Newport Canal

"A land locked canal in the heart of the historic Town of Newport!"

The The Newport Canal is a small stretch of canal that is more like a long pool than a canal as each section on the canal is blocked off at each end. The canal runs through the outer edge of Newport, and passes through through Town Centre.

This is a silty canal and can get very weedy, so using the right tactics is a must. There are some fantastic fish in the canal to good sizes due to the abundance of natural food. As the canal is not very deep, during a clear and sunny day, the large fish are easy to see and target.
