TAA Coarse Fishing Waters

Below you will find a brief overview of our Lakes, Ponds, Canal and River Stretches, all are different and offer anglers different challenges,and there are waters for Anglers of all abilities.

Alongside each photo is the waters name and brief details of the water.  Click on the 'Click Here for map' button and you will be taken to a Google Map showing the location of the water, the map will open near a suggested parking location for that water (please note; the reference might point to a private residence, the residences have no link to TAA and are shown only to pin point the area, do not park on private drives).

 

Click on the photo and you will be taken to the Water Specific page where you will find further details of the water including the typical species you can expect to catch, proven methods you could try to help you catch and other useful information relating to that water.

Lakes and Ponds - lake and pool banks can be unstable, please be cautious when walking along the banks.

Blue Pool

Approximately 4 acres in size and although located just off Telford town park this lake has a tranquil setting amongst mature trees.  The lake has around 10 pegs and contains Carp, Tench, Roach and Bream.  You may also catch a Cat Fish!

Responds well to most baits including maggot, caster and corn, of course try your own boilies or pellets for the for the Carp which go to good double figures in weight.

This pool can be fished on an annual permit or by day ticket on the bank.

Trench Pool

​A large lake of approximately 17 acres in size, the lake is located in the Trench area of Telford and has a tranquil setting.  The lake has ample pegs and contains Carp, Tench, Roach and Bream.

Mainly favoured by the Carp angler but also has good size Tench and Bream.  Most baits including maggot, caster and corn work well, of course try your own boilies or pellets for the for the Carp which go to good double figures in weight.

This pool can be fished on an annual permit or by day ticket on the bank.

Randlay Pool

Approximately 5 acres in size and although located just off Telford town park this lake has a tranquil setting amongst mature trees.  The lake has around 12 pegs and contains Carp, Tench, Roach, Bream, Pike and Perch.  Depths vary from around 3ft up to 8ft.

Responds well to most baits including maggot, caster and corn, of course try your own boilies or pellets for the for the Carp which go to 25 lbs in weight.

This pool can be fished on an annual permit or by day ticket on the bank.

Middle Pool

Located in the Wombridge area of Telford ​this pool is flood water balancing lake of around 2 acres in size with a central island.  The lake has 20 pegs and contains a good head of Carp, Tench, Roach and Bream having been re-stocked in 2016.

Responds well to most baits including maggot, caster and corn, of course try your own boilies or pellets for the for the Carp.

This pool can be fished on an annual permit or by day ticket on the bank.

Horsehay Pool

​Approximately 5 acres in size and located in the Horsehay area of Telford.  The lake has around15 pegs and contains Carp, Tench, Roach, Perch, Pike and Bream with depths ranging from around 3ft to 6ft.

Responds well to most baits including maggot, caster and corn, of course try your own boilies or pellets for the for the Carp which go to 25 lbs in weight.

This pool can be fished on an annual permit or by day ticket on the bank.  Parking is either on the road that circles the lake or at the small car park to the front of the lake.

WideWaters Pool

Located  the Dawley are of Telford next to The Dandy and Castle Pools, good car parking is located next to the pool.  This pool is quite deep and is aimed mainly at the angler looking for a mixed bag.  ​Approximately 2 acres in size in a very peaceful location.  The lake has 12 pegs and contains Tench, Roach, Gudgeon and Bream.

Maggot, caster and corn are he order of the day on this pond but worth trying any bait.  This is a tough water so possibly not for the novice.

Priorslee Flash (Hangmans Pool)

This is a large lake set in the Priorslee area ​of Telford and just 5 minutes from the M54 (not to be confused with Priorslee lake on the edge of junction 4 of the M54 .  Although set amongst a large housing development this is a very peaceful lake.

The lake has plenty of pegs but cannot be fished from the road side (the area along the railings) , Expect to catch mainly Tench, Roach, Perch and Bream but also contains Pike and Carp.  Some areas of the lake are very shallow.

A tough lake to fish but most baits including maggot, caster and corn work well, spinning is also allowed for Pike.

Madebrook Pools

​Two pools set in the Stirchley area of Telford, only the large pictured pool is fishable.  The pool is small with around 12 pegs possible, those on the road side of the pool are easiest to fish and are pre cut, to fish the far side of the pool you will need to cut through the bankside growth but this will give access to less fished swims.

The pool contains mainly Roach and Perch with Tench present and a couple of large Common Carp.

Responds well to most baits including maggot, caster and corn, of course try your own boilies or pellets for the for the Carp.  This pool can be fished on an annual permit, or day ticket on the bank.

Castle Pool

Located in the Dawley are of Telford next to Widewaters Pool and The Dandy, good car parking is located between Widewaters and The Dandy, as Castle Pool is at the top end of The Dandy there is a short walk to the pool.  This pool is quite deep and is aimed mainly at the Carp angler with some large specimens if you can get them. ​A small pool in a very peaceful location.  Mainly Carp but also Tench, Roach, Gudgeon and Bream.

Your favoured boillies for the Carp but Maggot, caster and corn for the rest.

This pool can be fished on an annual permit or by day ticket on the bank.

Dandy Pool

Located in the Dawley are of Telford between Widewaters Pool and Castle Pool, good car parking is located next to the pool, some pegs are wheel chair accessible.  This pool is quite deep and is aimed mainly at the Carp angler with some large specimens if you can get them. ​A good sized pool in a very peaceful location.  Mainly Carp but also Tench, Roach, Gudgeon and Bream.

Your favoured boillies for the Carp but Maggot, caster and corn for the rest.

This pool can be fished on an annual permit or by day ticket on the bank.

DotHill Pool

​Approximately 2 acres in size located in Wellington and although located within a housing estate this lake has a tranquil setting amongst mature trees.  The lake currently has 6 pegs, more can be cut out if you see a good spot, and contains Carp, Tench, Roach and Bream.

Aimed at the angler looking for a mixed bag and maggot, caster and corn, fish well.

This pool can be fished on an annual permit or by day ticket on the bank .

Apley Lake

​Approximately 5 acres in size and located in the Apley Castle grounds near Wellington.

The lake has around 35 pegs and is very much a mixed fishery containing all the normal species including Tench, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Bream with a very healthy Carp population.  In the main fishing is from platforms with a small amount of bank side pegs, typical depths up to around 5ft.

Responds well to most baits including maggot, caster and corn, of course try your own boilies or pellets for the for the Carp which go to xx lbs in weight.

This pool can be fished on an annual permit or by day ticket on the bank.

Tee Lake

​Approximately 2 to 3 acres in size has a tranquil setting amongst mature trees.  The lake has 10 pegs and contains Tench, Roach, Bream and a good head of carp

Responds well to most baits including maggot, caster and corn, of course try your own boilies or pellets for the for the Carp which go to xx lbs in weight.

Little Apley Pool

A small pool located in a park setting near Wellington, parking is in nearby residential streets but within easy walking distance with access and for suitable for the disabled angler.  The lake only has 6 pegs and is a great water for new anglers regularly giving good mixed bags of fish so newcomers wont get bored.  Contains a good head of Roach and Bream plus a healthy stock of smaller Carp that happily take maggot or corn.

Holmer Lake

Approximately 4 acres in size located in the Stirchley area of Telford and although located on the side of a busy road the lake is actually quite peaceful.   Plenty of parking is available and there are disabled access pegs very close to the car park.  town park this lake has a tranquil setting amongst mature trees.  The lake has around 15 pegs and contains Carp, Tench, Roach to 3lb, Bream to 6lb and Roach / bream hybrids to 3lb.

Responds well to most baits including maggot, caster and corn, of course try your own boilies or pellets for the for the Carp which go to good double figures in weight.

Canal and River stretches - river banks can be unstable, please be cautious when walking along the banks.  For rivers, banks are viewed as if you are looking downstream.

Newport Canal

Road bridge, just off the high street, to Fishers Lock.  Easy access, mainly flat.

River Severn - 88 Yards

from the stream downstream of Boat Inn water to where the large pipe crosses the river, right bank.  Access can be difficult.

 

River Severn - Maws

from just below Half Moon pub to top of Boat Inn water (just above foot bridge), right bank.  Reasonable access.

River Severn - Sweeny Cliffe

from the brook at the bottom of Brewery Inn water to where the large pipe crosses the river, left bank.  Access can be difficult.

River Severn - Buildwas 1

1 meadow upstream of church, left bank.  1 meadow (horse field) and wooded area down to cottage garden downstream of church, left bank (park in lay by opposite Park View).  Good Access.

River Severn - Buildwas 2

from top of island downstream to gardens above meadow, left bank.  This is a long stretch with access from each end, parking is limited.

River Severn - Buildwas 3

from Albert bridge to just around the bend past the Rowing Club, left bank.  Excellent access.
