Horsehay Pool
"A large pool set within a quaint village. Perfect for those who love a challenge"
Horsehay Pool is set within the centre of the peaceful Spring Village on the outskirts of the village of Horsehay. The pool was originally the site of a blast furnace built by Abraham Derby in 1750's when the area was little more than a farm.
The pool is quite large and is only fishable from one side due to the way in which the village is built. Each beg is well spaced out and there is a lot of water to tackle on each!

Horsehay Pool has a very good stock of fish but it will test your skills to get them in your swim and stay there. Horsehay Pool is a rarely fished gem in our portfolio however, those who put the time in, reap the rewards.

Is Hosehay Pool Disabled Friendly?
Currently, Horsehay Pool is not suitable for disabled anglers due to the steps leading down to the pegs, and the parking situation which requires the angler to walk to their peg.

The situation however will soon be rectified, as the council have agreed to help TAA install disabled friendly pegs in the near future.
How Many Pegs Are There On Horsehay Pool?
There are approximately 16 pegs around the pool.
Can I Night Fish On Horsehay Pool?
No. Night Fishing is strictly prohibited on the complex as it is situated next to a residential area. THIS IS NOT A DECISSION MADE BY TAA BUT THAT OF THE COUNCIL.
Baits And Methods On Horsehay Pool?
Whether you're a course anger, or you favour carp fishing tactics, you have the chance of a great days angling on Hosehay Pool.
If you are targeting Roach, Perch, Crucian Carp, Bream and Rudd you cant beat the usual course fishing methods such as Waggler (float), Pole, Feeder and Bomb tactics. Maggots, Casters, Hemp, a good quality groundbait, pellets, sweetcorn and small bandable boilies and wafters will help you pick out the Carp on Horsehay Pool.
If you are targeting the elusive but good sized carp, with carp fishing tactics, many of the best fish are caught using PVA bags with pellet, particle feed with boilies, wafters and pop-ups on the hook.
Spodding is allowed on the pool however, in the hotter months, Oxygen levels may drop and this may be restricted in such an event.

There are a few good sized Pike in the pool, which respond to dead bait tactics as expected. Although lure fishing is possible, Horsehay Pool is probably not one of the best waters in the area for this style of angling.
