Apley Pool is set within the outskirts of Apley Wood Park. The pool is well protected by woodland and is one of the favorite pools on our portfolio. Big Apley Pool really does cater for all types of angling however, this is a must for the avid carp angler as there are many carp growing to specimen sizes.

How Deep Is Apley Pool?
The Pool ranges from 1-5 ft maximum depth. During summer months with little rainfall, there may be a loss of water well below the pegs.

How Many Pegs Are On Apley Pool?
There are 34 pegs at Big Apley. Many of the pegs have been renewed with modern materials to withstand the weather, and use for years to come. Some of the pegs have staging into the pool which helps with getting your traps in the deeper water right away however, there is more than enough room around the pegs for fishing in the shallows for those BIG summer fish!

Big Apley is a favorite in the Telford and Shropshire Carp Angling scene, and is a well frequented "runs water" where you can catch many good sized fish in a single session. There is plenty of room on most of the pegs for your shelter so you are able to fish and keep dry and warm too!

Can I Night Fish On Apley Pool?
THIS IS A NIGHT PERMIT WATER
Apley pool has a night permit program attached to it. This means that only those with a night permit can fish this pool after closing time. This is only available to full yearly ticket holders and applications are limited in number and by set rules. Applications are once per year only and all members will receive notification when they are available to be applied for.
Because of this, Apley pool has strict opening hours for members and day tickets.
Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) 8.00 am till 4.30 pm / sundown, whichever comes first. You MUST be off the pool by the closing time.
Greenwich Mean Time Plus One Hour (GMT +1) 8.00 am till 8.30 pm. You MUST be off the pool by the closing time.

Is Apley Pool Disabled Friendly?
Yes, Many of the pegs at Big Apley Pool are accessible to the disabled angler. The paths and pegs around the pool have recently been overhauled and are well maintained.
Please be aware of your own capabilities as TAA expect ALL anglers to assess the area they wish to fish before, during, and after their session.

Baits And Methods That Work On Apley Pool.
Whether you're a course anger, or you favor carp fishing tactics, you really can't go wrong at Big Apley Pool.
If you are targeting Roach, Rudd, Perch, Gudgeon and Bream, you cant beat the usual course fishing methods such as Pole, Waggler (float) , Feeder and Bomb tactics. Maggots, Casters, Hemp, a good quality groundbait, pellets, sweetcorn and small bandable boilies and wafters will always get the attention of the fish in Big Apley.
If you are targeting the many good sized carp, with carp fishing tactics, many of the best fish are caught using PVA bags with pellet, particle feed with boilies, wafters and pop-ups on the hook.
Spodding is allowed on the pool however, please keep in mind that the pool isn't very deep, has a high bio-load of fish and can cause water quality issues in the hotter months.
