With Immediate Effect - Tee Lake is closed. Cyanobacteria (Blue-green Algae) Outbreak 26/08/2026

*** 𝕎𝕀𝕋ℍ 𝕀𝕄𝕄𝔼𝔻𝕀𝔸𝕋𝔼 𝔼𝔽𝔽𝔼ℂ𝕋 - 𝕋𝔼𝔼 𝕃𝔸𝕂𝔼 𝕀𝕊 ℂ𝕃𝕆𝕊𝔼𝔻 ***

Tee Lake has had a positive reading for Cyanobacteria (Blue-green Algae) which means the pool MUST be closed to angling until it clears.

Please ensure that if you do visit the pool, keep any pets away from the water, always wash your hand with hot, antibacterial soap and water, use hand sanitiser and wash any clothing that may have come into contact with it. DO NOT EAT ANY FOOD on or around the pool. If you have a dog, clean them properly so that they do not ingest any of this nasty stuff.

TAA advises all residents and visitors to not go there to feed any ducks. not only will this put you at risk of contact with Cyanobacteria, but the extra, unnecessary food and excrement from the ducks, into Tee Lake only adds to the problem and will cause the bacteria to multiply. WE NEED IT TO DIE OFF, NOT STAY LONGER. If you are feeding the ducks, you are feeding the problem!

If you see any dead animals and wild birds/ducks/swans, or see any that look like they may be in trouble, please contact CUAN Wildlife Rescue on: 01952 728070 and report any dead animals to DEFRA via the reporting portal at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/report-dead-wild-birds

Whilst Telford Angling Association are doing everything we can, and will be monitoring the waters, dead wild birds and animals are NOT our issue however, we will aid in any removals IF DEFRA and/or CUAN are not going to collect any samples or dispose of them. CUAN and DEFRA are the first point of contact. CUAN if alive, DEFRA if dead.

Please feel free to pass this message on to anyone who lives in the area. Telford and Wrekin Council will be notified, as will the Environment Agency, and we will all be doing what we can to get the matter resolved.
